About Carl Beswick

I am a British-Australian writer, based in Naarm/Melbourne. My work focuses on experimental and contemporary forms, with a view to expanding knowledge through creative practice and engagement with theory.
I am a PhD candidate at Monash University. My thesis, “Parasitism and Subversion – A Serresian Approach to Experimental Literary Texts”, is about the relation between information and creativity in a contemporary world in a state of crisis, and uses theory to shape a new creative practice. It asks what happens to creativity in a world saturated with information and facing climate change, political extremism and colonialism, and it engages with philosophical positions that stem from Michel Serres’ information theory. I am writing a novel, Distant Objects, as part of my doctoral dissertation.
I’ve previously worked as an assistant lecturer at Monash University, teaching undergraduate literary studies. For more about my work and experience, see my LinkedIn profile.
